Posted by Amum on 3/3/2007, 4:42 pm, in reply to "Appeal from Olivier Bancourt re:Chagos Islands" I have not recently caught up with the Chagos affair. To me, it seems that the only solution is for Mauritius to accept and compensate all Chagos people who have been dislocated as a result of the British and American policies on international waters. Why can't Mauritius accept that the people of Chagos are Mauritians, albeit geographically remotely connected to Mauritius? Why on earth should Britain grant people of Chagos British Nationality? Come on, think again! Mauriitus is the only one responsible for what is happening Chagos. History does not lie. I think it is a losing battle you are fighting against the UK government. I wish you well and good luck, but, I still think that what you are doing won't achieve the outcome you pushing for.
