Yesterday I met an old Aussie man in North Sydney, to my astonishment he told me he was a lucky survivor of a Qantas passenger plane crash that occurred in 1960 on the Plaisance airport runway during takeoff. Can anyone out there confirm the crash had really happened. I left Mauritius in 1969 and never heard about it.
It is often claimed, most notably in the 1988 movie Rain Man that Qantas has never had an accident.
