Posted by Raja on 29/7/2007, 4:01 pm, in reply to "Re: Mauritian Creole" If everything fails, I strongly recoomend that you start mingling with real Mauritian Creoles and try to learn their habits, idiosycracies and their attitudes. You must reject whatever is inhibiting you from going to your roots. You must be convinced that Creole Lingua is a beautiful language which we must be proud of. I am not a Creole, but I can always help you if you want to come to Mauritius. It is so sad to see a Mauritian who can't speak the Creole language. It's time that Mauritian people living abroad stop denying their children from learning their true Creole culture. One thing you cannot do is to change your colour and pretend to be someone else. My parents come from India and proudly, taught to speak Creole because this is our culture and our national language. My parents have not for one moment like yours have pretended to be some other people. I can understand why you are so unhappy and desirous to be connected to your Mauritian Roots. Shame on all those so called Mauritans living abroad who categorically refuse to pass on to their children the true Mauritian identity. Shame on you who make children like Sarah to feel so ashamed of their roots. Shame on you to bring up your kids in this manner.
