I vaguely remember the air crash you mentioned , I was around 5 years old at the time, we used to live on the edge of a massive bush land (carreau goyave de Chine} and tea plantation in Forest Side. One late evening while having dinner, we received a call from a close family friend who was on duty at the airport, he said that a plane had just crashed and was well alight. My dad then picked up a pocket torch, accompanied by my elder brother, they walked through a dirt track that led to an enchanting view point,overlooking the south part of the island. When they came back home they claimed to have clearly seen the red glow of the fire kilometers away.
