Posted by Robyn on 13/9/2007, 11:32 pm My Name is Robyn and I am based in NSW - Australia. I am trying to trace my grandfathers background and family in Mauritius. My grandfather travelled to Australia, married in Balmain and never returned to Mauritius. His name was Antoine Xavier Maclou. born 16 December 1882. His birth certificate say in the district of Savanna His parents are listed as Aristhene Maclou - occupation carpenter. His mother Angeline Maclou- nee Lebrasse. I am 42 and never had the opportunity to meet my grandfather or any family of the Mauritian side. Nor did my Dad and his brothers and sister. I plan to visit Mauritius in Sept 08 with my 14 year old son and hopefully love to connect with decendants of his family. My Aunty indicated she once had contact with a possible family member in Beau Bassin. Thankyou any information or advise as to where to start would be most appreciated Robyn
