Mr Abdel Hafiz Aumeeruddy.
25/5/1937 - 3/9/2007.

Born: Port Louis, Mauritius.
Grew up (Childhood): Quatre Bornes, Mauritius.
Age: 70 Years Old.
He was the son of Mr & Mrs Said Abdool Hossen Aumeeruddy and his father is known to everyone as "Osman".
His mother is known as "Fatimah" and his mother family comes from the Dostally family.
Her full name of his mother is called: Fatimah Bibi Aumeeruddy.
He came from a very large family and very well known family name in Mauritius especially in Government & in Politics, such as Ministers and Ambassadors for Mauritius. Mrs Shirin Cziffra-Aumeeruddy is his niece and the Minister of Justice (Attorney General) for Mauritius, former President Conseil Permanent de la Francophonie (International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF)) for 44 French Speaking states, Ambassador for UNESCO and so on. His brother in law Mr Mahmood Tally-Edah Ambassador for Mauritius in Egypt. Lastly his very distant relation Cassam Uteem former President of Mauritius. Which Mr Abdel Hafiz Aumeeruddy mentioned to us long time ago about his family background and several people have mentioned to us about the family background on various TV & Radio reports, also on quite a few websites on the internet and several newspaper articles.
He published and he was also an editor for several magazines and journals at a young age before migrating to the United Kingdom. His ambition was to see the world and to come to England (United Kingdom). England was his favourite destination to settle down. He also said that England was the best country in the world due to its absolute tolerance and opportunities that no other country had.
He came to England by a French Passenger Liner called "Ferdinard de Lesseps" which took 28 days by sea and also stop on various locations on route to Marseille in France, such as Reunion, Madagascar, Comoros, Tanzania, Kenya, Djibouti, Egypt and France. Eventually arrive at Platform One (famous for the migrating platform) at Victoria Train Station coming from Dover by ferry from Calais from a train ride from Paris. He stayed in Paris for one or two days from his train ride from Marseille. Note: Other French Passenger Liner came to Marseille in France from Mauritius are called "Pierre Loti", "Jean Laborde" and "Marshal Jeffrey".
He arranged lots of marriages for Mauritians in the United Kingdom during the period of early 1960's to the present day in the new century - Millennium (year 2000 onwards).
He helped to organised, co-ordinate and arranged Mauritian weddings in various wedding halls and locations from the period of early 1960's to the present day.
He organised many UK & Foreign Excursions for the Mauritian community from the late 1960's to the present day. The famous coach trips he did were Blackpool Illuminations, Isle of Wight, Lake District, Weston Super Mare, Cheddar Gorge, Porthcawl (Wales), Barry Island (Wales), Skegness, Scarborough, Cromer, Margate, Broadstairs, Bournemouth, Swanage, Great Yarmouth, Eastbourne, Poole, Hunstanton, France: Boulogne, Le Touquet, Trouville & Deauville, Belgium: Bruges, Blankenburg, Ostend, Knokke Heist, Holland: Sluis & Aardenburg.
He also organised foreign group holidays for the Mauritian community: Tunisia 1996, Turkey 1998 and Tunisia 2003.
He was one of the founding members of a Mauritian society called the Family Circle in 7/8/1988.
He was an ordinary member of MCS (Muslim Cultural Society) in 1983 and an executive committee member of MCS (Muslim Cultural Society) in 1990.
He was a true Manchester United supporter, he collected all the newspapers articles and football stickers about them.
He helped to cooked and sell Mauritian food such as Mauritian savoury snacks, such as Gateaux Piments, Dholl Puri, Dee Pein Frie, Samousass, Mauritian Crepe and the famous Mauritian Biryani at various Mauritian Days (Mauritian Fete) at Walthamstow behind the Walthamstow Town Hall.
He was very good cook especially in Mauritian cuisine such as Fried Rice, Pilau, Biryani, Kaliah, Lad Dop, Rougaille, Vindaye, Achard Legume and so on.
He was an excellent carom player among friends and family. He takes his game very seriously. He was also an excellent domino player in his spare time.
He had a sudden death on Monday 3rd September 2007 at 12.05am at the Homerton University Hospital, Hackney, London.
Mr Abdel Hafiz Aumeeruddy was a remarkable man for what he did for Mauritian community in his lifetime, for his family as well and he was a very sociable person (He mix of all types of Mauritians from the Chinese to the Creole to the European to the Tamil to the Hindu to the Christian to the Muslim) the Mauritian people like him a lot and he care about the Mauritian community in United Kingdom and overseas very much as a whole.
We - The Aumeeruddy's sincerely deeply apologise for not contacting everyone for our beloved father and beloved husband Mr Abdel Hafiz Aumeeruddy for the funeral because we were unable to contact everyone at a very short period of time and we were unaware how popular he was and also uninformed, also unacquainted, also unaware the people he knew. We understand very much and very well for those who try to come or unable to come to the funeral due to the 3 days of the London Underground Tube strike.
He was buried at the Garden of Peace Cemetery in Hainault, Greater London on Tuesday 4th September 2007.
Our sincere thanks and appreciation for those people who attended Mr Abdel Hafiz Aumeeruddy funeral and also our heartfelt gratitude to those who phone in their condolences and sent cards to us.
May those who know him who has not able to attend his funeral and pray for his soul to rest in peace and in paradise.
Love from all the family - The Aumeeruddy's and friends. Everyone will miss him so dearly for the wonderful times to bring to our lives and everyone he knew.
