How can I find out for sure if my ancestors came to Mauritius from India. I think they did, but I can't find proof of it. IN WRITING. My Grandmothers cousin in Mauritius said that they are 4th generation Indian. My grand mother was born in Canada in 1914. Her mother was Marie Flore Valentine, born in Mauritius in 1879. According to the death registration I have, her mother was Aleida Magloo, and her father was Baptiste Mootiak Chedumbrum, both born in Mauritius. Now, my grand mothers dad was, Alexander Joseph Valentine. For his place of birth it says, Mauritius Island, Madagascar.? And for his parents, it just has his fathers first name as Joseph, born at Port Louis, Madagascar.? My grand mother and her brother had always said that their fathers real last name was De keep or something like that.
My grand mothers 2 older brothers were born in Mauritius. One was born at, Curepipe, Abbe de la Caille Street.
