You accuse Cyril of being presumptuous and divisive. Yet, in the next breath, you do exactly that which you decry. You imply that one ethnic group’s good fortune is a direct result of frugality, hard work and sacrifice, while another’s misfortune is due to its malingering and bon vivant lifestyle. To top it off, you tender your opinion as fact. No, Gerard, it is not fact; it is a well-travelled, blame-the-victim generalisation. Convenient – but not true.
On the one hand, you say Cyril is extreme in his approach (okay, no fancy arguments from me) but, in the same sentence, you trot out the word supremacist. As most reasonable people associate supremacism with Nazis, Apartheid and the Ku Klux Klan, are you now telling us that Cyril is advocating some kind of Rastafarian master race?
What’s the difference between Cyril’s screaming capitals and your usage of seven exclamation marks to highlight one point? Is that not extreme too, hey, Gerard?
It’s like a script from a B-grade Spaghetti epic: The noble silk-robe-wearing patrician (Gerard), savaging the curly top plebeian (crazy Cyril) – with a toothpick. And in the background, cackling beer wenches spout puffed-up platitudes through yellow buck teeth.
