"Sir" Ben Gontran will be in Melbourne to launch his book "Sir" Ben raconte Rodrigues. The book is unique in that it records for posterity long forgotten memories of life in Rodrigues.
The Rodriguan Community in Melbourne, in conjunction with the Rodriguan Social Club of Victoria and Mauritius Australia Connection will be welcoming "Sir" Ben Gontran in Melbourne with a cocktail to be held on Friday 14th December 2007 at Southern Community Centre, Rupert Drive, Mulgrave from 7.00 - 10.00 pm.
Your family and friends are invited to attend this function and celebrate with "Sir" Ben Gontran this great achievement. The book is well written and revives memories of life in Rodrigues. It will be available for sale at $35 and well worth the investment. It will be a record of life in Rodrigues that every house should have for our children and future generations. Please give me a call on 03 8707 1946 or Michael Plaiche on 0401 251 582 to reserve your copy. You can also purchase the book online at http://www.cjp.net.au/store/category1_1.htm
On a pesonal note, my encounter with Rodrigues was very short when I was sent by the Minister of Works in 1973 or 1974 to prepare a long term capital works program for road infrastructure. My stay of 3 weeks in Rodrigues was enough for me to fall in love with this beautiful place and its people.
Please contact either myself on 03 8707 1946, Luc Limock on 0419 528 302, Dola Waterstone on 9546 7913 of Michael Plaiche on 0401 251 582 to confirm your attendance. Bring your friends along too. "Sir" Ben will also play the accordeon for you.
To cover cost of hall & cocktail expenses, a donation of $10 per family would be appreciated.
