I fully agree with all what has been said but I would like to explain my views and to give you a bit of background on myself. I come from a deprived background and my father struggled to earn a living and to provide me and my siblings with a decent education. I achieved excellent academical qualifications and applied for jobs in Mauritius but was really shunned time and time again!! meritocracy as I understand it did not seem to apply and my friends from other denominations less qualified than myself got jobs and I was left in despair! I eventually picked the courage and decided to look afar and went abroad. It really broke my heart to leave the island but I quickly made my way in the world and without any constraints in the way, I had a very rewarding and successful career, I could not have done that in Mauritius!
As you already know, I have moderate views and my aim is to foster the empowerment of our community in Mauritius. I do not support the extreme views of Cyril and my dream is that our community get equal footing and the same opportunities as everybody else on the island.
Father Gregoire has taken the initiative and we must continue the good work so that our children, brothers and sisters have an equitable share of the island's prosperity and that they are recognised as valuable members of society. This is my only aim and agenda. I am saddened and fed up by all the bickering and name calling on this forum and one shoud not be ridiculed in trying to improve the plight one's fellow citizens.
