I was recently in Mauritius after years overseas and was surprised to see the changes in pamplemousse gardens. I remember a statue of Labourdonnais at the front entrance but failed to locate it on my visit with my kids. Even the caretakers seemed puzzled by my question. I also noticed that the mansion had been converted into a museum which gave absolutely no information about the garden or its founder. The whole garden seemed to dedicated to the former primeminister yet gave little reason why. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks
