Dear All
I have posted an article ( in 2 Parts ) on the emotional subject of Capital Punishment. Lately there has been a debate in Mauritius on the subject, most likely driven by the fact violent crimes such as murder and rapes, especially against children and women, has seen an upward trend of enormous proportions.
Political leaders of all parties have joined in the debate. In fact some critics argued that the debate may be entirely driven by political agendas.
I was concerned by only one controversial contention : Is capital punishment a deterrent against heinous crimes?
So I set out to find out and research the subject from an evidence-based perspectives. I did my level best to leave emotions out of the investigation. I have also tried not to disclose my own position on the subject with the sole intention of presenting the article in a non-bias manner.
I would like to hear your views on the matter. I would welcome comments, either sent to Message Board directly or to me by email. If you do not wish to comment, perhaps you will be kind enough to simply express a FOR or AGAINST VIEW. In this way, we can get a feel of the views of the Mauritian Expats on the subject.
Please rest assured that all views will be treated in strict confidence and no names or personal details will be disclose to any third party.
I also wish to point out that I do not belong to any Political Party in Mauritius.
Many Thanks
My best Wishes to all of you.
