Hi Tony
You hit the nail on the head. Thanks for giving this accurate and sincere advice to them. I am trying to help them in Sydney. I have witten in this column since June 08 and have even made awareness of all you have said while I was in Mauritius in July/August. I believe if they are serious waht you have written is the true picture of life as a student here. The blame is on the agents also, as some of them has never set foot in Australia and providing advice of the whole package for Rs350,00 to 400,000, they are telling the students that with the 20 hrs work permit they can bring the whole family and the husband also can work 20 hrs but unfortunately nothing is said about the cost of living in Australia ( food, rent, course fees, child care facilities, transport) especially the big cities like Melbourne and Sydney.
It is good that people like you are writing to bring awareness and present a good picture of the real life situation here.
I know life is hard in Mauritius and people like to give it a go for a better living in Australia but they don't realise this come with big sacrifice, patience and hard working and with a planning and target.
Thanks Tony for bringing awareness again, hope students take notice and read with care.
