My Dear Palonce
Thank you for your greetings.
Grateful for the efforts you have taken to reply.
Before we go any further, may I very politely ask you to make a note of the spelling of my name. I can only assume you have made a genuine mistake with the spelling.
Now back to your response. Dearest Palonce, I dunno where to begin!!
With all due respect to you, You have completely mis-understood my email And it looks like either you have not read the L'Express article and/or you are terribly confused about its contents and its meaning.
Neither my email nor the Lexpress article IS ABOUT ALLEGED OR OTHERWISE PROVEN DISCRIMINATIONS FACED BY MAURITIANS LIVING IN AUSTRALIA. In fact, it is NOT about AUSTRALIA as a country per se or about Australia's treatment of its immigrants.
The question that is being raised, or so it transpired by the former Trade Unionist Mr Jack Bizlall and as reported in the Lexpress article is whether MAURITIANS LIVING IN AUSTRALIA AND WHO STILL HOLD A MAURITIAN CITIZENSHIP FACE DISCRIMINATIONS WHEN THEY RETURN TO MAURITIUS EITHER ON HOLIDAYS OR THOSE WHO HAVE RETIRED BACK IN MAURITIUS.
The Lexpress article did not elaborate exactly what kind of discrimnations these compatriots are facing. This is what prompted me to find out and hence I posted the email to which you were kind enough to answer even though you are completely mixed up.
So, is it any clearer now?
Perhaps you can share your own experience with us, if you so desire, whether or not you yourself have encountered any form of discriminations WHILE HOLIDAYING IN MAURITIUS OR WHILE ON BUSINESS IN MAURITIUS.
I PERSONALLY, have not encountered any such discriminations during my numerous visits on the island and I have many friends and relatives who have retired back in Mauritius and have not faced any institutional discriminations. For example, They can draw their Mauritian Pensions without any problem.
Some of them, have bought properties or land and have built their own houses or bungalows ( not without their more than average share of headache and numerous difficulties with Contractors and builders.
Now , I would expect Oz-Mauritians to be given the same treatment when they return to Mauritius?
Is this so or not ? This is the question that I would like people like you to answer.
Whether or not Australia treats its immigrants fairly or unfairly is beyond the point, not withstanding the fate of aboriginals, let alone the White Only Immigration Policy of Alfred Deakin of 1901- read Australia Immigration Restriction Bill of 1901! If you wish to debate this particular question, then be my guest!!
Do I have any ulterior motives or what are my intentions for bringing this matter on the Australia forum?
If you are not new to the Mauritius-Australia Connection Message Board, then you will know that I do express my opinions fairly regularly on any SOCIAL OR POLITICAL ISSUES AFFECTING MINOITY COMMUNITIES BE THEY IN MAURITIUS OR ABROAD AND IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR ETHNCITIES OF FAITHS.
I shall continue to express my views, that is , if you do not have any objections.
Finally I am happy to note that you are happily settled in Australia and doing well. I wish all our fellow compatriots who follow your footsteps the same success.
Gud Day, Mate!!
