‘OCTOBER IS LUPUS AWARENESS MONTH’
Lupus is fast becoming known as one of the major medical conditions of modern times and currently affects more people than Prostate Cancer, Breast Cancer, MS, Leukemia and Cerebral Palsy COMBINED!
Unfortunately, in western society there are still many in the medical profession with limited knowledge, if at all. This is certainly a disease which will increase dramatically as knowledge amongst the medical profession and public continues to spread.
Statistical Figures of illnesses (7 Sept. 2007)
Lupus 1, 511 461 (USA) 113, 600 (AUS)
HIV/AIDS 971, 653 (USA) 65, 889 (AUS)
Breast Cancer 221, 321 (USA) 15, 008 AUS)
MS 419, 507 (USA) 28, 447 (AUS)
Leukemia 33, 252 (USA) 2, 254 (AUS)
Parkinson 1, 079, 615 (USA) 73, 210 (AUS)
Cerebral Palsy 587, 310 (USA) 39, 826 (AUS)
Cystic Fibrosis 32, 388 (USA) 2, 196 (AUS)
* This should give you some indication of how wide spread Lupus is.
