In the wild any sign of a debility is an open invitation to a predator. Which is why he's probably avoiding a lot of contact when he's at his worse. All you can do is offer reassurance. Keep an close watch on his down eye as it's common for them to get infected. I've just remembered something I saw on another site. Instead of the cane basket, which I would be worried about using if no-one is home to watch him, they used a small kiddies wading pool lined with sheepskin etc. It was nice a low, but still offered a safe area with some support. The other thing was too line a pen with cot bumpers. Worked brilliantly. Melony

I would leave him. If he's getting up and moving around afterward then he's reorienting himself. Definitely make sure his pen is clear so he can't hurt himself. You could try massaging him when he's in that situation, don't straighten him, just gently massage his back, neck and shoulders. Talk to him, calm him, as it's very frightening for them.
