Having said that mine were given Lucerne for a lot of years before I found a reliable source of oaten. If it's a choice of lucerne or no hay definitely use the lucerne. Just make sure the hay is nice and fresh, avoid pre bagged stuff you buy in the pet shops and such as it's usually pretty dry, dusty and unappetizing. Since you have 5 buns I'd go for a bale. It's suprising how quickly you can go through it. Store it in one of those large plastic bins so it doesn't attract mice. Melony
