It can be hard to fix an broken bond but having them neutered should help with that. If you're going to try to get them comfortable with each other again I would start working with them slowly.
I try to use a small room, like a bathroom or hallway, somewhere they do have space to move away from each other, but not enough to totally escape. I hold one while the other moves around and explores, then swap them around. After a while I put them both down together, but keep an eye out for aggression. Watch the tail, if it goes up, intervene quickly. Usually you can get away with a quick distraction, such as stroking or a treat, the aim is to not let it escalate into a fight. They need to associate being around each other as a pleasant experience.
Once I am comfortable that they aren't going to attack on sight I start stroking them and gently nugding them together, eventually having them nose to nose or side by side while I stroke them. A couple of mine have 'itchy' spots, places that if you scratch they will start grooming anything in sight and I've often used that shamelessly to my advantage! Start scratching and while they're looking for something to groom nudge the other in close.
The big thing is patience and perseverence. Keep working with them every day if you can and intervene at the first sign of a potential fight.
Good luck!
