The problem with rabbits is that they are prey animals and any sign of weakness would mean they would be an easy catch for a nearby predator. This makes them very, very good at hiding illness. There may have been a number of reasons for him to pass.. a blockage, stasis (gastric slow down), disease such as calici (rhd), even something genetic. Without the vet doing a full necropsy it would be hard to say as there are usually very few outward signs with any of these. Usually by the time it's obvious the rabbit is ill it's very advanced. That's why bunny people seem obsessive out food intake, poop output and the general attitude of the rabbit. I do understand how hard this is as I've lost 5 of my own, 4 within hours of me realising there was a problem. Although timely intervention can sometimes make all the difference, there was probably very little you could have done since he went so quickly. Melony
