Rabbits are prey animals (they get hunted by other animals) so will not react in the same way that a puppy or kitten will. They will need a home with somewhere dark they can hide out and rest, much like they do in a burrow. Most rabbits don't like being carried around as it's too far from the ground for them. You'll need to spend lots of time sitting on the floor with your new bunny so they get used to you and so you can get lots of cuddles! The more time you spend with him/her the better. I'm not sure why they would make you wait, but as to playing with your bunny, just keep a few things in mind.
