Most of mine can eat pretty much anything without any problem but one only has to have a sniff of anything sweet (carrot, apple) and she's dropping cecals all over the place. If you've eliminated injury/pain/weight and it's really bothering you or the bun (ie they're sticking to him and making a mess), you could try cutting back to plain hay and water for a day or two and then slowly introducing his normal diet. A couple of things could be going on here. There may be something stopping him from reaching the cecals, overweight, injury, pain etc, or he may be over producing and so you're seeing them around. Over production usually indicated a too rich diet. Although you haven't made any changes to his diet, something he's eating may have changed. For example maybe you're buy the same brand of pellets but the manufacturer has changed the formula. Maybe the oaten hay is sourced from a different grower or region.
