Posted by Scanman on 5/5/2006, 2:18 pm, in reply to "Re: A Kindred Spirit & Passion" Not such a large travel budget, most of the oversees tracks were courtesy of my favorite uncle, "Uncle Sam". In 1999, I retired after 20 years in the US Navy and had the good fortune to be stationed overseas for 8 1/2 years (3 in Scotland, 1 in Australia and 4 1/2 in Belgium). I try to get back to those places every couple of years. Next Friday, I leave for Belgium and will visit 3 tracks; Ghlin (Belgium), St. Cloud and Auteuil (France). As with every trip, I'm really looking forward to it (last track visit was over a year ago in Australia). Though not completely retired, I do set a little more cash aside for "track trips", so this year I'll be busy. As for New Zealand, I hear the racing is great and the country is beautiful. I'm looking at 2010 for my next venture to that side of the world. I hope it will include some "kiwi" racing. Best of luck with "going racing" this year.

Well, it has taken me 27 years to put this list together, so maybe I've been at it a little bit longer.
