I worked the Sonoita meet one year (and went two others). There were two classic stories. The first was, the year I worked there, it got so windy, the rivots to the "press box/roof" came loose and blew part of it away. Not exciting a comforting feeling when you're inside at the time. The other was when jockey Mike Cazares appeared out of nowhere to ride that days card (no one had seen the guy for months). Rumor has it that he sat in the sweat box all day with a six pack waiting to pick up a mount. He finally gets one and goes flying head over heels three strides out of the gate! Lay off the sauce Mike!
