This news has really rattled the foundation of the AZ Fair circuit. Rillito Park opened early this year so there was already a week gap between Ril and the first fair in Duncan. Now, with DG closing they've pushed the fair season backed a couple more weeks to try to fill the gap. Apparently, Sonoita is going to try to add another weekend to help as well (business wise, they do pretty well). It sure makes it hard for guys to get by racing for $1000 pots. But the AZ fair circuit is great and I sure hope they (the horsemen and the fairs) weather the storm.
