I hate to disagree, but most of the California fair tracks are more like regular race tracks than the typical county fair
And the fairs themselves are enormous! No parking by the outside rail and running ten feet to get in a wager. It takes a loonngg time to make your way through the fairgrounds to the tracks. I was very impressed with Sacramento (which reminded me quite a bit of Saratoga, believe it or not). As far as the other majors go, I've been to Santa Rosa (which is very nice) and have seen the others on TVG. If they would just lose those butt ugly par threes in the infield they would look much nicer! Ferndale is the one true county fair (as the rest of the country views a county fair) in the state, and I strongly recommend it. It also has the most extreme speed bias I have ever seen.
