Westerner Park in Red Deer is passing on becoming a racing and entertainment center after being awrded a license last year. Horse racing was set to resume there next year. The full story is on the Alberta Racing Commission website, thehorses.com. Supposedly, the racing commission is committed to having someone operate a track in that area-so stay tuned. May not be that difficult, as the Alberta countryside is absolutely littered with racetracks-most used now for chuckwagon races.
