Posted by Janice For the KY Derby, I stay in a hotel in Indiana, less than an hour's drive, but about 1/4 the price of a room in Louisville. I park at a church four blocks away for $20.00 all day. Not many are interested in working the races, but I've been able to go to a lot of races, meet great people, have a wonderful time, and go home with more money than I left home with.

I found a really cheap way to go to Breeders Cup and Triple Crown races: I work there. I work the mutuel windows, which pays really good. I don't get to see the races, except on a tv screen, but the actual race is nothing compared to the atmosphere, the events before and after the races, visiting the track, seeing the big horses and trainers in the paddock, etc.
