I checked racing dates for tracks at the end of Feb. and discovered that Sunflower Downs has dates of 6-60 to 7-03, '05. I checked their local newspaper, and find that racing is definitely planned for 6-30. This is the first time since 2000 that they've had live racing--but now they have Sunflower Downs Casino. They plan to have six to eight races with purses of not less than $4,000.00. They picked the date on Thursday because they hope by not interfering with Hastings Parks schedule they will draw horses from there. Racing used to be a really big deal for them and I hope it's well supported.
