I think it was 1998-its now a meijers thrifty acres-can't get enough of those strip malls and shopping centers. Anyway thats when thoroughbred racing in Mi went to Great Lakes Downs on the other side of the state. It was a stop gap measure to keep racing alive in MI. There is chance a new track in the Detroit area. Magna has the license to build but may not have the desire since slots have been effectively blocked by the existing casinos.
