fully, looking at the medium-term Celente-style trend indicators, it seems that the US should soon become a failed state so crippled that it will be unable to maintain this kind of bestial video-game criminality anywhere, not even in its own territory. Eventually, both its economic capacity and its hitech-industrial capacity to build and maintain such systems will simply evaporate.
On a slightly longer (though not much) timescale, it's even possible that the United States will become terminally disunited, thus ridding the world of one more evil empire.
Only a small handful of others to disintegrate after that. Rather depends on how bad the climate-catastrophe/sixth-extinction trends get this century. The baleful smack-down effects of Peak Oil, closely followed by Peak Everything Else are already with us, of course, in their early days, though still not as widely understood as they need, with ultimate urgency, to be.
The population-overshoot problem, along with the alleged problem of continued growth in absolute numbers, is about to start to solve itself spontaneously, I fear, if it hasn't started quietly already.
So go Mother Gaia's merciless resolutions of the Synergising Global Crises which, it seems, we can't raise the collective global gumption to resolve humanely ourselves. Hope I'm wrong about all that. Could be, which is what still gives me hope. But I wouldn't give you odds.
Still, in the meantime, there's always the mindless fun of multiplex Matrix-mediated videogames to comfort us....
