The thrust is simple - how many times need it be said? Don't scapegoat other victims! A strikebreaker is a victim, else they would not be working for *worse* pay than the posties under *more* cynical conditions (short term labour). And yet, the union solution appears to be to make these people feel threatened, and guilty, and evil. How does that help?
If strikebreaking is the flaw in the plan (it undeniably is), find another plan. Don't whinge and complain that a capitalist framework is not playing by your socialist rules. Of course it isn't, and it never will.
I suggested one, which was rejected (without great thought, I think), but I'm not a union rep, so will admit I'm not aware of all the implications that might be involved. But surely there are people who *should* be on this simple (to understand) but tricky (to solve) issue already? Is the best we can come up with after all these years still just to blame and bully the weakest in society - that is, to perpetuate the hierarchical power struggle that unions are supposed to be fighting, from the union itself?
If such tactics are the solution of such organisations, then there are clearly some systemic issues that need working through.
cheers,
Derek
