I haven't read 'USA' or any other books by John Dos Passos I'm sorry to say. USA is a monumental work and I'm sure if I got stuck into I'd find it absorbing - I presume you've read it Keith? I do know that Dos Passos, at least in his younger years, was if not a member at least an admirer and supporter of the IWW and so if he mentioned the 'Wobblies' it would indeed be the IWW union he was referring to. He was left-wing and basically anarchistically inclined for a good deal of his life but, as I understand, became rather reactionary as he aged unfortunately.
