"Israel launched a devastating assault on Gaza in December and January aimed, it said, at stopping rocket fire by Palestinian militants. Rocket fire since the assault has diminished dramatically."

The attack was legitimate self-defence, then. If you forget the events that preceded the attack, that is

An ominsion very much on the beeb style.
