Posted by Rick on 9/18/2006, 1:18 am I have watched a woman who just 8 days ago seemed invincible to me go through this terrible ordeal of finding out she will have both breasts removed, undergo chemo and radiation therapy, and that her future is still very unclear. I have seen those eyes that were once so strong and sure look up at me and beg that something will make this all go away. Right now her eyes look like those of an innocent child, so vulnerable and scared. I love her so much. I have to take this pain away from her somehow. Please respond with any thoughts you may have or suggestions that might help her to feel in her heart that I cherish her and will always be there for her, no matter what changes she goes through. Thanks

Hello All,
I'm kind of new to this whole thing but I would appreciate any help anyone can give. I am here because this is listed as a men's support board. On Sunday the woman I love found a large lump in her breast. She was rushed through the mammography and ultrasound process and had a needle biopsy. The result was breast cancer. After additional diagnostics it was determined that the cancer was in both breasts and bilateral mastectomy was indicated. My questions are: Is there a support group or counselor on line who can give me an idea how to provide comfort and convince her that I will always love her and be attracted to her? Even though she is a beautiful woman our relationship has never been based on physical beauty and has always been based on our very deep emotional connection. What kinds of things are important to say at times like this? What might help get the message through to her that I am as sure about my feelings as I am that the sun will rise tomorrow? I told her I will keep saying it as often as she needs to hear it and I realize this is something that can't be explained, processed, and then the whole fear will go away, I just feel so inadequate for not being able to find the right words to provide comfort. I beg anyone who has experienced this to respond. I need your help for both of us.
