I feel the emotional aspects of the loss are only now starting to emerge and I am trying to assure her that I love her and that when I look at her I see the beautiful, gentle, kind person I have always seen. She has included me in her care and doctor appointments as much as possible. This helps me feel like I am doing something but also helps me to understand the treatment process and how to help her. Thanks to all who have offered perspective, kind words, and advice.

Thought I would share an update. The pathology reports are all looking good. She is in the process of healing, both physically and emotionally. Every day brings good times and sad times but overall she is improving every day as well. This is such a life-changing disease and I applaud all who have had this touch their lives and who have carried on through it.
