Posted by george on 12/22/2006, 6:49 am so i spent tuesday night this week at the hospital on a CPAP machine and after trying a few different masks, i was able to sleep on one that prevented my apneas. I should get my own machine next week, it will regulate (BIPAP) and lessen pressure when i exhale so that i don't feel like i'm exhaling against constant air pressure. i'm sharing this because if you snore or know someone who does, get checked for sleep apnea. it's a potentially dangerous condition that could lead to heart attack, or stroke. i've always been told i snore like a freight train and i look forward to not doing that anymore with this machine.

just sharing that i received a diagnosis of moderate sleep apnea after having sleep studies done at the hospital. i've always been a heavy snorer, and my anatomy doesn't help, i've got an 18.5 inch neck, a fat tongue (well, that's not so bad all the time yuk yuk yuk ), a small mandible and as my neurologist calls it, a crowded oropharynx. ok, so i was having approx 18-20 apenas (where i stop breathing) per hour.
