Actually, since you work in a hospital, and since your concerns are about hospital visitation, you probably can get this advice for free from the hospital lawyers if they are in-house, or the chief of staff, patient advocate, or someone else like that who would have had a lot of experience with these problems. Although it is not always the case, I have noticed that even the most hateful of exes do have a tendency to suck it up and do the right thing at the worst times, so there is reason to hope this might happen here. I wouldn't count on it, tho, and being a prepared scout can't hurt. Sure, you don't want to think this is ever going to come up, but since you are anxious about it, and since it is one of the situations where knowledge can actually be empowering, AND it is something you CAN do, why not? Can't ever hurt, and might help.

I wanted to add one thing - it might ease one portion of your anxiety to learn what rights everyone has regarding access to everyone else in any given circumstances.
