I am a sister of Donna Ricks, who posted on the survivors board many times until she lost her battle last January. I have participated in the Relay for Life for 10 years now. For the past 3 years, we have had a team called Donna's Diva's, first in honor of her, now in memory of her. The first 2 years, our team raised the most money in our county. This past year we didn't have the participation that we had in the previous years. I guess that all of her "SO-CALLED FRIENDS" have come to the point of "OUT OF SIGHT-OUT OF MIND" thinking....which is SO SAD. But that is OK...myself & my other 2 sisters have carried on & will continue to do so...and we get stronger and more involved every year. I truly enjoy being a part of helping to find a cure for cancer. We have so many fund raisers, raffles, BBQ Dinners, bake sales...etc....we REALLY enjoy doing these things. It is for such a GREAT cause. If you have never participated in one, I would highly recommend it...it is such an emotional thing, it makes us even more determined to do better the next year so that hopefully a cure will be found and also that no other family will have to go thru the pain of losing a loved one like we did. We miss her every day, but the days are getting easier. I drive by the cemetary 2 times a day back & forth to work, & each time I go by, I talk to her. I lost my Breast Cancer necklace last month, and was so upset. I looked to the heavens and ask her to please help me find it, and beleive it or not, I found it the very next day. I know she is still with us...that was proof enough for me. But getting back to Relay....please give of your time...it is a very rewarding experience.
