Dave, I'm so sorry to hear about Linda. I think it's important for her to not feel alone, so stay by her side as much as you can. Talk to her. Tell her everything you want her to know. But realize that you can't be there all the time. You have to take care of yourself too, which is hard to do at this point, but it's important. Get some sleep. Remember to eat. Take a walk, either by yourself or with a friend. Go out and do something physical to relieve your stress. It's easy to forget to take care of yourself when you're watching someone you love go through this.
At some point she will probably lose consciousness and slip into a coma. When that happens, I firmly believe that they can still hear us, so continue to talk to her even then. Tell her you love her. Tell her it's ok to let go.
I'm so sorry, Dave. Cancer is such a terrible, terrible disease. You and your son are in my thoughts and prayers. All the best to you.
