hi rob, i went through this with my mother who fought this disease. all is true, sometimes you'll take the lead, other times (and many times) you'll follow her lead. listen to her, ask her first when it comes to things like meeting with the doctors. i would always say, "mom, do you mind if i ask her about other treatment options" instead of just asking the doctor first.
i made her the center of everything. if she wants to be alone for a bit, leave her alone, if she needs to talk, listen, but i'm sure you'll always show her that you are on her side, and that you are committed to her. it can be frightening and one's spirit can be knocked down, other times, have the "kick ass" attitude and beat this bastard of a disease to a pulp so that it doesn't win...
we are here to listen, and as men, yes we try to fix things as it is our nature to do so...once you find out treatment options, stay online with us and let us share our experiences further with you...we are here for you anytime...george
