I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I wish I had some magic words of wisdom to make this part easier for you, but I don't. There are no right or wrong decisions at this point. Whatever decisions are made will be the right ones, given the information you have at the time - whatever she decides, or you decide for her, will be the right decisions for her and for you.
There is no such thing as being ready. When the time comes you will do what you need to do to get through it and help her through it. There is no way to prepare yourself. All you can do is get through each day, and do what you need to do for her. Don't worry about making the wrong decisions, don't worry about doing or saying the wrong things. Don't worry about the past or the future. Just be with her, right here and right now. She knows how much you love her, and she knows that whatever you do will be in her best interest. So just be there.
I'm sorry I can't make it easier. You and your mom are in my thoughts and prayers.
