Oh Doug,
There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for your wife's healthcare team to treat her with any level of disrespect whatsoever. I actually changed hospitals after my surgery because I felt like I was just a "number" at the first hospital. My follow-up chemo and radiation was done at a major university hospital, and every single person we came in contact with treated me with respect, dignity and compassion. I don't know where you live, but does your wife have a "nurse navigator" or a "cancer coach"? If so, please speak with him/her about your concerns. Somebody over there needs a reminder. Good luck to you both. Please feel free to vent here any time. We all need someone to listen to our concerns, and you will find kindness here.
