Health and Nutrition have often been the focal points of the DBDSDA throughout it's heirarchal evolution.
Ellen G. White, emphasized the importance of teaching proper Nutrition to the children of God. The views Mrs. White had on Nutrition weere embraced as dogma, and it seems she herself beleived it was more than just common sense to observe proper nutrition, but a spiritial obligation as well.
As I ate supper, I thought to lunch. I had prayed prior as I ate my meal that God would help me to be more health conscious, to observe more balance and good application of proper nutrition.
Thankfully I no longer eat pork. I had made it an issue, paying extra for my meal to avoid pork in my fried rice and egg roll.
I was told some time ago to teach on proper eating and good health habits.
When I finished eating my meal, I opened my fortune cookie. Now I don't look to such things for guidance and consider those who do to be practicing divination and such. People playing lottery numbers based on fortune cookie numbers, looking to astrology and the like. I do find such amusing at times...and have on occasion seen God use such as a means of confirmation, as was today. But note...this has nothing to do with the cookie, or the fortune, If God had chosen to confirm such, it would have came by one means or another. My prayer throughout my meal sticking with me as I read...
"You will enjoy good health: that is your form of wealth."
I wont bother to tell you what my lucky number was!
You know, some would downplay the importance of learning.
Even Christ as God and Lord God will be in an evolution of Learning. The first person referred to as God in Psalms 45, is Christ...and unlike his father...not omniscient...as the passage of Psalms 45:4 indicates such...stating that "thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things..." now how does one who is omniscient...learn anything new? Hence my point.
Likewise the person of The Lord God in Genesis chapter 2, is not all knowing...as evidenced by his reaction to the man naming the animals...
the passage there cites that The Lord God after creating all of the animals "brought them to Adam to see what he would call them:"
Gen 2:19.
Some would call this assessment speaking blaspeme against the Lord. Such would be spoken in ignorance.
I call this assesment the truth.
There is another way to look at it...likely the ones doing the most criticism of this teaching would be zealots. As such embracing some form of "Christianity." To such, who would likely not even recognize the person of Christ in Psalms 45, not accept such even were it shown to them...then at the very least...Logic would dictatate that Psalms 45 states that "God" as applied to the first named individual in the chapter...would go through a phase of learning...now if this is not Christ...then that would blow the popular theory of God being Ominscient right out of the water.
That being said... I offer my first lesson on this subject, not as a Sabbath study, but moreso as a Testimony.
You may be asking..."what do you know about nutrition? By right do you teach on such?"
Well I know what God has taught me on the subject. I guess you will just have to consider that and make up your own mind.
the guy on the right...that's me upwards of 440 lbs. in 2001. I don't know for sure the exact amount and that is a guess. But I do know that several months prior to addressing the issue of my wieght, the last known medical wieghing I recieved was 416lbs. They suggested using 2 scales...seriously, they only had one set that went abouve 400 and had to search for it. They finally found it. After I got under 400 lbs...I used to drive across town to pay 25 or 50 cents at one of those novelty scales that gives you the fortune afterwards. It was in a convenience store and it went as high as 400 lbs. The only scales I could find in those days.
