Thank you. And Hello.
It occurs to me that God led the Children of Israel to a land flowing with Milk and Honey.
It seems the true blessing is often overlooked.
It was not about the milk and honey...it was about the land. Only fertile, healthy land could provide such conditions.
Such a land means...good wheat, good corn, healthy livestock, untainted food.
Milk, with or without all is dangerous additives...is still unnatural beyond infancy. society in whole, does not view it as such, but then mass killings are getting so common place that numbers which are less than the teens in body count, are often only emphasized a few days...and the detatils forgotten by the masses.
Abundance, is not always a blessing. For those spinach lovers who wandered in the desert...such a land meant fresh spinach.
I still drink milk, but only on rare occaisions. I ususally buy some in cans or powdered to keep on hand for recipes which call for such. And if you can control your consumption, some is ok, perhaps.
This acceptance is born of 33 years of eating habits. But I have nearly eliminated it from my diet, likewise most dairy product. I have bought one pack of cheeze in 3 or 4 years now. Though I do still eat it occaisionally in Maccaroni and cheese and such.
Many Adventists are vegetarians. I am not, but I have considered it strongly for sometime, and could likely see such as a possiblity in the future, I am certainly not ruling it out.
A great book on the subject of healthy eating, and the book which God chose to transform my life with as far as diet is concerned is "Fit For Life" by Harvey and Marylin Diamond. I lost 225-250 lbs and never, I mean NEVER counted calories. Ate all the time, stayed full, and still do. Quite and amazing work.
Other points are mentioned in the work as well.
In chapter 10 on Dairy Products, the authours illustrate the way in which Milk is highly political, marketed into our way of thinking from our youth and the Milk industry is subsidized (paid for by tax dollars...ours!) to the tune of 3 billion Dollars a year (1987 at time of writing) or 342,000 dollars an hour devoted to the product and the industry.
I have reccommended this book to many, I have bought copies to carry around with me looking for the right person to give it to.
I myself had the book in my library 3 years before I ever read it. If you read only one chapter in the book...let it be chapter ten...if you are and obese individual...and I assure you a lifechanging experience, you will NEVER view food the same way again, NEVER!
It is so important that God's people set examples, for those in our generation, and likewise to future Generations.
"There is more to the mark of the Beast than just Sunday Keeping."
- Quote by David Koresh, speaking
on the subject of Diet.
