There is such thing as "fair use," which is covered by federal copyright law and numerous court precedents.
Copying entire news articles (or even large portions thereof), even if the source is cited, has always been in violation of copyright law. Anyone who blogs on a regular basis about news issues should familiarize themselves with the applicable laws.
Posting of headlines, which link back to the original article, or even small segments quoted from the original article, is covered under "fair use." No amount of threatened legal action from the AP can change that without a complete rewrite of our nation's federal copyright laws.
Youtube provides the imbed codes - they are hosting the video and giving free permission to imbed the videos. Now, if you alter their code and remove the link back to youtube, you may be violating their policy (and depending on the wording of their licensing, copyright law as well).
I hold that the purpose of articles such as this is really to make people afraid to share information due to unrealistic threats of legal action - and when we fall for it, and pass it on in a panicked fashion with big bold warnings, we are playing right into the hands of those that we think we are fighting against.
