I realize this is an online venture, and see no harm in it. But likewise I realize there are also many who light candles in memorial.
The Practice of Lighting a FLAME at any point during Sabbath after it's onset is Forbidden in Hebrew cultures. I am uncertain just yet if this has a scriptural ORIGIN.
ON this custom however, I pretty certain I saw Scriptural reference to such. I just can't recall it at this timeframe. I only know I used to light candles During Sabbath for ambiance and fragrance and STOPPED the practice completely upon learning better.
I noted on here earlier in the week a statement "HAPPY NEW YEAR" in reference to ABIB or NISSAN depending on your interpretation, is the FIRST month of the HEBREW year.
The truth of the matter is that the HEBREW NEW YEAR does not begin in the FIRST MONTH, even though that marks the new CALENDAR YEAR.
The Hebrew New Year begins near or in TISHRI, the seventh month of the Hebrew Calendar about the time of "ATONEMENT" and the 3rd of the Hebrew Feast annual feast days.
During this time they are supposed to LIVE OUTSIDE in a BOOTH, or TENT, the festival is actually named after such, called "BOOTHS" and is of the 3, one which contains the HOLIEST DAY of the ENTIRE YEARLY HEBREW CALENDAR.
There are some who propose you only have to dwell in these booths for a certain part of the day. At any rate, there is an entire week in which they CANNOT START an OPEN FLAME, because this entire TIMEFRAME is considered holy. As such they purchase VERY, VERY large Candles which will burn for an ENTIRE WEEK. I think they do similiar during Passove and the Feast of Unleavened Bread which last from 7-8 days depending on the variation, SCRIPTURE NOTES SEVEN. At any rate, I have a book on JUDAISM for DUMMIES, and I think it was there I learned about this ordinance, it is buried away however, and TODAY is a MANDATORY day of Rest, as in ALL DAY, to be followed by TONIGHT.
TODAY is actually 15 NISSAN, until Sunset, and I will detail later how I know this.
There is much confusion in the various calendars concerning Hebrew Customs to this timeframe.
One states 14 Nissan began Tuesday at Sunset, another Wednesday, another STILL...points to Last even, and there is another group who while OBSERVING last night as 14 Nissan, will not begin OBSERVANCES until sunset this evening.
THE FINAL AUTHORITY above traditions or mandates of MAN, should always be God's Word.
I note this in this post, moreso because it provides an opportunity to DETAIL the subject, than because I actually believe lighting ONLINE digital candles is wrong during this timeframe. I actually like I said, dont really see it as such, for that matter, I have some bias, but no CONCRETE feelings on the matter.
IT IS HOWEVER to those who would ACTUALLY LIGHT PHYSICAL FLAMES during this timeframe to whom I address this counsel, and those as well trying to learn more about Sabbath, the Weekly, Monthly and 3 HIGH HOLY SABBATHS of which one, 15 Nissan, began at Sunset last evening, marking today to be a Mandatory Day of Rest.
Again, I realize this is a learning experience, and for some keeping these observances is simply impossible at this timeframe. But learning more of the details of these things will allow you to make better preparations to Next year, taking time off and such.
In my experience, Employers while perhaps not liking employees taking time off, WILL NOT deny such time for Religious observances. Actually to do such would Be ILLEGAL, as well to impose undue pressure on employees who take such time off. In respect to your employers however, I think a LONG TERM notice of intent into such matters is not only proper, but on a spiritial level, a duty, to allow you to prepare for such as well as to allow your employer to make provisions to the same.
Pentecost will begin 50 days from this Sunday, and it actually has nothing to do with Easter, this year however, they just happen to line up.
I will detail more of that in the coming weeks that you be able to prepare.
But Passover, and BOOTHS, are both WEEK LONG observances, as well SHAVOUT, or PENTECOST.
THIS HOWEVER DOES NOT MEAN TAKING AN ENTIRE WEEK OFF.
During these festivals there are between 2 to 3 mandatory days of Rest, depending on the calendar year. THE FIRST AND LAST DAYS of these feasts are to be HOLY CONVOCATIONS, this is G-d's words, not mine. THIS means they are to be treated as the WEEKLY SABBATH, Timeline, rites and such, beginning at SUNSET, ending the next, and NO WORK in the timeframe.
On some years one of these two days associtated with the Feast itself will FALL on the same timeframe as the WEEKLY sabbath, therefore only having TWO mandatory days of Rest in the timeframe.
Some of the information as to timelines concerning this PASSOVER in my previous posts is incorrect. I had hoped some would find such, chime in, and make this a broader participation, but I am gratefull to ALL who participate, even if only on the level of just reading. We are however, individually accountable to search these matters out. And this will be a defining point of those finding themselves SEALED or NOT SEALED after the opening of the 6th seal, at somepoint to Stand on Zion with the Lamb as noted in Revelation 14:1.
If you read the passage you will find they will have "HIS FATHER's NAME" written in thier foreheads, this will require not only a knowledge of "HIS FATHER" but the HIM in HIS.
This is why those same group will have a TRUE TESTIMONY Of JESUS CHRIST, and with that Testimony, know of the greatest Conspiracy in Human history, to conceal the truth of his very name, of his person, and by a Group who has been behind the scenes for thousands of years, a group he exposed, a group David Koresh exposed.
So if you want to light an ONLINE candle in this timeframe, well go ahead, I will likely do so after the weekly Sabbath or passover itself, but I KNOW FOR CERTAIN I will light no physical fire in this timeframe, strike no match to a candle until the Week of Unleavened bread passes, or until proof is offered that the Hebrews are incorrect in this practice, and doing such, as many other things they do, by adding to God's word.
I do however promise to follow up in study, to find the source of this observance and if one exists, THE SCRIPTURAL Location(s) for the Same practice, until then, I reccomend you err on the side of prudence, if you err at all, rather to chance performing that you know you may well later find to actually have been a Sin.
