Everything IS DONE! They signed off on it last week, and I only found out today! They told me there is nothing else for me to do, no need to contact Texas. And the timing, well, read on, this is a reply sent to a friend an hour or so ago:
A note while I am here, I was born Billy Steven Crider. I blog online under the name "Steven Benjamin". Benjamin, is a name I believe I was given in a vision in Aug/Sep of 2000.
BILLY, not William, is EXCULUSIVELY a German name, it means "WISE." Steven, is A Greek name, it means "Crownded in Victory" and Crider, I am told by the family Historian, was once a German Royal household named Krueger. The story I was told is that they angered the peasants and took the money and ran! Yeah, kinda sounds like my family all right! LOL! Anyway, they settled elsewhere in Europe, England I think, until they went broke and were ran out of there to end up in America, about Kentucky and/or Ohio. There is town in Ohio named Criderville going back to the 1880s, during an Oil boom. The oil dried up, and many moved to Texas. Most of my dads family is from Texas, and many made thier livings, still do, in the Oil field.
I had a profound experience, very spiritial in nature in June of 2001, an event I refer to as "The Mississippi Experience" in which I was at a roadside rest area in Mississppi, and told, quite literally, "now Steve has to give them the message."
That is another story, long in and of itself, but it is enough to mention that facet here.
My Mother wished me to be a "JR." My Dad Billy Franklin Crider, was against it. He, of the two, is responsible for the name "Steven"
attached to me. He has always reminded me since my childhood..."You're your own Man, Son."
I announced to my family a few months ago, that Based on the prudence offered in the passage of scripture "A good name is rather to be chosen than Great Riches" from the book of Proverbs, I had decided to finally adopt that name given me by God in a vision...Benjamin. Benjamin, is Hebrew, the name means "Son of the right hand."
It was decided the new legal change would be "STEVEN BENJAMIN", a very strong name, "Crowned in Victory, Son of the right hand."
While I realize that it is a persons actions which truly defines them, molds who they are and become, and gives one many times "a good name," I also realize that at times in history there have been those who have believed to have been given a new moniker by God himself. I am one such person, and while there has been some rejections by some, others in my family and close circle of friends have been surprisingly supportive, and one, not so surprisingly, My dad, who continues to support me, offering again, that I am indeed my own man, and I, who believe, if anyones man, I would hope I am God's. And so what better name can one choose, if one was to choose a name, than the name one believes God has given them.
Throughout my life, some have addressed me as Billy, others Steven, my
ex-wife had a few colorful names along the way! But most, those closest to me, have called me Steve. I found out earilier today, during the afternoon, 18 Nissan by some Hebrew Calendars (there are about 3, and conflicting with one another) as I believe the day to have been, that Last Thursday afternoon, 14 Nissan, the Name Change was finally Signed off on, OFFICIALLY making me no longer Billy Steven Crider, but from this day forward, with no doubt, Steven Benjamin.
I smiled as I left the courthouse. There a profoundness too it. I went through great lengths this last week to sort through all of the Calendar Confusion, to learn the TRUTH of the dates of the Hebrew calendar as it applies to 2009. Historically, 14 Nissan, was the day that Christ was Crucified, and to be laid to rest in the final Hour(s) of that day prior to the High Holy Sabbath of 15 Nissan. And as well, He Ressurrected on 18 Nissan. As I made my way through the courtyard in front of the Cumberland County Courthouse to the parking lot, I smiled, realizing that on 14 Nissan, Billy Steven Crider, on some level, died, and on 18 Nissan, Steven Benjamin went forth a new creature. It seemed really appropriate.
Historically, those closest to me, have called me quite simply "Steve." Please feel free to do likewise, but no longer am I "Steve Crider," though part of me always will be, but from this point forward, if anything, "Steve Benjamin."
