the timeframe should not have snuck up on me, nor should it have any of you. If it did, and for us to suggest it did, is to defer our sin to the calendar and life in general.
The reason I say such, is that while I am sure I mentioned it last year, and in some detail...there was an aspect not really emphasized, but you can believe I will emphasize it this year, doing so now.
The word "PENTECOST" literally means..."COUNT 50"
and it is not the we should be here at the end of the timeframe to count the days in "retrospect" it is that in order to Honor Scriptural mandates set by YHWH, we should have been counting ever since the first Sunday following Passover. Counting each day towards the fiftieth. Hence, now aware of my sin in the matter, perhaps you are likewise, if not, then terrific, enjoy your feast as I am sure you have it prepared already in wait, that honor the weekly as well as the high Sabbath.
But if not, then a lesson learned...that we not repeat ourselves in such fashion in the future. I am reminded of recent that I was a bit unprepared for Atonement last fall, and a post recent by Wendi to those "Who fail to remember the past..."
If I recall correctly there is to be no meat eaten in the timeframe on Shavout. I will have to re-check.
NO matter what position you find yourself in, recall that the day is to be a day of joy, a day of rememberance, and a night of reflection.
The Hebrews honoring the timeframe will dedicate the entire night tonight to no sleep, to a time of Study of the Torah.
