You may find that yet again, there is an issue of Calendar Confusion, even amongst the Jews as to the proper observance of "SHAVOUT" or Pentecost.
This site offers a sound insight to an observance of Pentecost, and the proper method of counting the timeframe.
http://antipas.net/easter.htm
On his site, the administrator of the same is pretty seemingly down on the evangelical denomination of "Pentecostals" but he is indeed abosolutely correct, despite his presentation, even the very denomination of Christian Evangelicals who define themselves by the High Sabbath of "Pentecost" not only fail to truly understand the day...but many years, they fail to observe even the correct day for the event, and this in part because like most of the rest of the world, the observe "Easter" and even Passover in the wrong timeframes.
If you were to visit this site:
http://www.when-is.com/shavuot-2009.asp
You will find that there are groups again, observing Shavout on the wrong day, some doing so to have begun last eve at Sunset, some the day prior on Thursday at Sunset. BUT BOTH, ARE WRONG!
So why? Why are they wrong...do they not know how to count to 50?
IT is because of one of two reasons...1) the most obvious, the celebrate either Passover, and/or Easter on the wrong CALENDAR DATE. Again they do this out of immaturity, a lack of any honest personal investigation into the matter.
or 2) They count 50 days from PASSOVER itself, and arrive at the wrong date because such is not the method.
Pentecost, as it applies on the most popular (misunderstood) Evangelical concept, to the upper room, has to take into consideration, "RESSURECTION DAY" which always occurs each year on a very particular Sunday.
Christ indeed arose on a Sunday. And the year he was Crucified it was the first Sunday Following Passover. But it was not PASSOVER that made that Sunday so Significant, so much as it was that in that year...THAT SUNDAY, was the day of the Waiv Sheaf offering. And as The evangelical group "PENTECOSTALS" concern themselves greatly with the event on levels of the application of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit on those in the Upper Room...a proper understanding of the actual Timelines in Scripture for Passover and the day of the Waiv Sheaf offering (always on a Sunday, the 1st following Passover) is necessary in order to truly arrive at the correct date for observing Shavout.
