I am not certain now about eating meat in the timeframe. The only scriptural Mandate, I have found thus far, is that today is to be a day of rest. One of only TWO SUNDAYS on the yearly calendar to be considered such. The other, which is not Passover, but occurs in the timeframe is THE DAY OF FIRSTFRUITS, or the FIRST FRUIT OFFERING, also known as "THE WAIV SHEAF" offering. That Sunday is always THE FIRST SUNDAY FOLLOWING PASSOVER. Bear in mind, even now, by Hebraic Calendars, it is indeed SUNDAY, which began at Sunset. The Roman calendar however is still on "SATURDAY" and for about another half hour.
The Waiv Sheaf offering, The Sunday following Passover, could be as much as 1 to 6 days following depending on the year and calendar rotation.
During the Exodus, the entire Nation of Israel was on the move. Those 7 weekly Sabbaths they were to count, those 49 days, they were on the move to Sinai. There are alot of Jewish Customs observed as 'LAW' as in heavenly mandates...which simply are not so.
During this timeframe, they will have a feast, using only Bread, Cheeses and Milk and fresh fruits in this timeframe. This is commemorative issue. I am uncertain now, if such is set in scripture. I do know I was instructed at the grocery store the other night to buy fruit, so I have a basket of strawberries. No where near the feast I had last year which had about 6 different types of cheescakes, a large bottle of Soymilk, and a small container of regular milk as I recall, fresh LOAVES OF Bread...oh so good, and cheese, I had cubes of pepperjack, jalepeno cheddar, cheddar etc. This year..."STRAWBERRIES."
Seems small huh? But I am grateful. Even last night, I was instructed not to put the Shofar back in it's case, but to leave it out, only to find later as I was moved of the Spirit to investigate, that I would again be sounding it as this Sabbath, this HIGH Sabbath, follows the weekly. For the record, on a regular basis, of those two Sundays during the year we are to observe as Holy, only this one is actually a HIGH HOLY SABBATH, out of the entire year...not.."EASTER."
As the "Christian" world is out of whack in it's observances, so thier predecessors, the JEWS, often have been guilty of adding tradition to the actuall word of God.
So as I sit here, with my seemingly "SMALL" feast, lacking some of the elements, I am aware that in origin, the reason that the Jews now celebrate such a feast with only Cheeses and Milk, is to memorialize that in the timeframe, originally they were on the move, and as such, had no time to prepare Meat on Shavout, they in the wilderness at Sinai, had only Goats milk and cheese and bread and whatever fruits were on hand or in the locale. In truth, the didn't feast at all that first SHAVOUT, not in the traditional sense of the word.
